Feng shui has been on my mind a lot this week because of Chinese New Year, which fell on February 8, Monday, this year. Because of the vital role that the Chinese played (Thank you, Hon Lik, for inventing the modern e-cig!) - and are still playing in the global e-cigarette industry, I thought it would be enlightening to take a closer look into feng shui and what it could do to make everyone's vaping life more fortunate and fun in 2016.

Feng shui is a well-known practice in the western hemisphere where the biggest and most profitable markets for electronic cigarettes and other vaping products are located. You may already know some feng shui tips in buying or building a home and in designing the interiors of an office or a commercial establishment. What you and others who adhere to feng shui may not know is that this mystical practice from the Orient can be used to improve your health and other areas of your life that need your attention.

Inhale E-juice Enhanced with Essential Oils to Attract Positive Chi

Feng shui is all about bringing good chi - or life-force energy - to your life. The Chinese believe that essential oils contain the life force of the plant they're distilled from and the absorption of that kind of energy leads to positive results. So, if parts of the plant were used to treat various maladies, then the essential oil would have the same therapeutic properties.

For instance, inhaling the vapors from a heated liquid solution (i.e. flavored e-juice) that's been fortified with a few drops of eucalyptus is believed to have 'lung cleansing' capabilities.

In fact, a study by Sadlon and Lamson published in Alternative Medicine Review in 2010 observed that:
Surprisingly for an antimicrobial substance, there are also immune-stimulatory, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, and spasmolytic effects.
The researchers then suggested:
Application by either vapor inhalation or oral route provides benefit for both purulent and non-purulent respiratory problems, such as bronchitis, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Research has revealed that eucalyptus oil contains cineole, an organic compound that has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, nasal decongestant, cough suppressant, and expectorant effects. Other "good" compounds found in eucalyptus oil include phenolics, which are powerful antioxidants naturally present in plants.

About.com advises you, however, to carefully "read the ingredients and be sure the products you choose contain pure essential oils versus fragrant or perfume oils." Keep in mind that the scent of the essential oils mixed in with the other e-juice ingredients would be vastly different from the pure stuff that's heated and diffused throughout a room in aromatherapy practice.

Use Vaping Charms Shaped Like Guardian Animals for Good Luck and Protection from Bad Karma

Call them as you may - lucky charms, talismans or amulets, but they're usually made of jade carved in the shape of a particular animal that represents one of 12 signs in the Chinese Zodiac. These objects are widely used in feng shui to attract good fortune and to counter the possibility of bad karma in your life. They're commonly worn as jewelry, but you may use them as lucky charms for your personal vaporizer or mod.

Before you choose the type of talisman to use, check your birth date first on this page and verify the correct animal sign you were born under in the Chinese Zodiac calendar. Next, see which of the five feng shui elements, what lucky colors, and which of the various birthstones are associated with your birthday.

For instance, someone who was born after February 18 in 1977 is labeled as a Fire Snake whose birthstone is opal and personal feng shui colors are red, purple and magenta. Although it's too on the nose, a mod charm made of that looks like a snake with either black or white opal stone eyes would be a good start.

A good feng shui tip in vaping is to use a leather mod wrap with a burned inscription of one of three Chinese sutras of the Vows of the Medicine Buddha. Choose the version you like and recite it like a mantra to help you overcome problems with your mental, physical and spiritual health. Another option is to use a custom mod casing decorated with an embossed feng shui tree that has 7, 8 or 9 citrine stones embedded into the design. Citrine is a glassy yellow variety of quartz that's often used in feng shui for attracting wealth and abundance.

Stop Smoking and Switch to Vaping to Create Lots of Beneficial Chi

One way of creating sheng chi or beneficial energy in feng shui is to purify the air in your home or office. Some people use a special lamp, which emits a soft glowing light that calms the mind and produces negative ions that remove bacteria, fungal spores, pollen and other irritants from indoor air. Meanwhile, other people decorate their homes and offices with indoor plants that are known to filter out airborne chemicals, such as nitrogen oxide, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, benzene, xylene and carbon monoxide.

In this sense, vaping has a unique advantage over smoking. People who use e-cigarettes exhale vapor into their immediate environment. Unlike smoke that's chock full of irritating carbonyls and toxic compounds, the vapor coming from e-cigs is mostly composed of moisture particles with tiny amounts of flavoring chemicals. When you stop smoking and start vaping, you're not only reducing the amount of pollutants in the air you breathe every day, but you're also exposing yourself to a steady supply of good feng shui energy.
