Five Feel-Good Reasons to Stop Smoking and Start Vaping
Don't want to light up a cigarette inside your house, and expose your friends and family to second-hand or third-hand smoke trapped indoors? Try using an electronic cigarette, such as a vape pen or an e-cig stick. Unlike tobacco, which can only produce nicotine-laden smoke through combustion, vaping makes use of an advanced vaporizing device. It uses burning hot coils to vaporize a small amount of flavored e-liquid inside the drip and turns that fluid into an inhalable mist.
#1: Second-hand vapor won't have a negative impact on your respiratory health.
Vaping at home and in the presence of your family and friends isn't as much of a health risk as you've been led to believe. In fact, medical research studies have shown that first-hand and second-hand exposure to vapor have little or no significant impact on the respiratory function of both e-cig users and non-users.
#2: Vapor from e-cigarettes doesn't cause irritation to the eyes, nose and throat.
Many research studies on the chemistry of e-cig vapor and several first-hand accounts from experienced vapers have established that vaporizing the flavored e-juice produced vapor that's relatively harmless to humans and animals. The absence of combustion in vaping means there were no ashes and irritants in the resulting aerosol, which won't cause dryness and itchiness to your eyes, nose, mouth and throat. The clouds of vapor exhaled by an e-cig user mostly consist of moisture particles and some residue of flavorings.
#3: The vapors produced by e-cigarettes don't leave behind unpleasant odors in the air.
Standing in a cloud of vapor or walking through it won't result to the bad odor attaching itself to your hair, clothes and skin. This is the opposite of cigarette smoke, which remains in the air for several minutes even after the smoker has left the spot and always leaves a tell-tale odor of burnt tobacco.
Meanwhile, vapor often has a fruity or sugary scent depending on the e-juice flavors you've chosen to vape that day. This is possible because most of the tobacco was effectively removed from the ingredients list. Only nicotine derived from tobacco is used to make e-liquids, and nicotine is an odorless and colorless substance.
#4: Vapor from e-cigs dissipates quickly compared to tobacco smoke.
Although anti-vaping campaigns have emphasized the dangers of second-hand vapor, this is by far the least of your worries. Vapor doesn't stay afloat in the air long enough for others to accidentally inhale it unless they're sitting or standing in close proximity to someone who's vaping. This has already been established by a group of French scientists who found out that vapor dissipated within 11 seconds on average. In comparison, cigarette smoke would often linger in the air for about 20 minutes on average.
#5: Observe good vaping etiquette when you want to enjoy an after-meal vape.
Many vapers like to cap off a hearty holiday dinner with a few deep puffs of nicotine-rich vapor from their personal vaporizers or mech mods. Vape-tiquette demands that you leave the dining area before firing up your mod. Some people love to sit on the porch to look at the night sky while chasing some clouds. Other people, on one hand, like to settle in a far corner of the living room or find a spot in the kitchen to have an after-meal vape.
When is Indoor Vaping Acceptable?
You don't have to go outside in the cold of winter just to smoke a cigarette for a few minutes. Many people consider indoor vaping as a generally more acceptable thing to do at home rather than smoking cigars or cigarettes. While smoking is something you generally do in a social setting, vaping is commonly done in your room or at a private residence. Not only is it fun to do, vaping is also a great way to relax and relieve the stress brought on by the holidays.
